The people of Loganlea and surrounding communities will be protected well into the future with the soon-to-be constructed replacement Loganlea Fire and Rescue Station.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan MP, joined Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner, Greg Leach, at the Kingston Road site.
Minister Ryan said the $4 million fire station would boost delivery of critical fire and rescue services to the area.
“Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) responds to a wide range of incidents each year and state-of-art facilities like the one being constructed here will enable them to continue answering the call for help,” Mr Ryan said.
The Member for Waterford, Shannon Fentiman, said it was essential that firefighters have the necessary infrastructure and equipment they need to fulfil the vital role they play in our communities.
“We are building the infrastructure needed for our fast-growing Logan community,” Ms Fentiman said.
“The new station will also provide spaces for training to ensure the QFES staff are best equipped to keep our community safe.”
The Member for Woodridge, Cameron Dick, said the Loganlea Fire and Rescue Station and crews had a long history of protecting their local community, with the station first opening in 1985.
“Anything we can do to support and empower them is a privilege, and this new station will go a long way in boosting frontline capabilities.
“Once the new station is built, the existing station will be demolished to make way for a hard-standing training area, ensuring our firefighters have the ability to complete practical training for the challenges they face every day in their jobs,” Mr Dick said.
QFES Commissioner Greg Leach said the new station will be well received by firefighters and the community.
“This is an exciting and important development for the area and the new station will help us continue to meet the growing needs of the community,” Mr Leach said.
“It will better enable our local firefighters to work hand-in-hand with the Loganlea community to prevent and respond to emergency incidents and disasters.
“From this modern facility, QFES can continue to deliver the high standard of fire and emergency services the community has come to expect.”
Practical completion of the replacement Loganlea Fire and Rescue Station is expected by mid-2022.
